Well, that may be overstating it a little. But Evan and I did take a wonderful cruise to the Mexican Riviera last month. Just the two of us.
Sadie stayed at home with her Grandma.
It was an exciting week for everyone.
And I think an exhausting one for Grandma.
Everyone did very well. Sadie understood that Mommy and Daddy were on "acation" on the boat. She really misses her Grandma since she moved to Texas, so I really think that she didn't even notice we were gone for a few days. Grandma arrived a few days before we left and in that time, Evan and I ceased to exist so we felt pretty sure that leaving her would not be that hard.
But it was.
Although the excitement of being on vacation alone with my husband for the first time in, oh... 4 years, was enough to get me over it. Mostly.
We sailed out of Los Angeles on the beautiful Royal Caribbean cruise liner The Mariner of the Seas.
Cruising is a whole new way to travel. I love it. Since it was a trip that Evan won from his company for being awesome, they took extra special care of us. It was great. We had a beautiful stateroom with a balcony looking out over the ocean. The only thing we had to pay for was drinks and souvenirs. And they held a few receptions throughout the week with free drinks galore that we took full advantage of. Drinking in the middle of the day is a whole new, wonderful way to vacation. And all the things they say about the food on cruises is true. It is great and it is plentiful. I would advise taking the stairs whenever possible to work off all that food. Whew.
We stopped in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. We had fun in all three places. Although Puerto Vallarta was my favorite. It was so beautiful and I would love to go back and spend some more time there.
Because it was a company cruise and Evan's brothers, Lucas and Burton, also work for the same company and are also awesome, they and my sister's in law, were with us too. It was a lot of fun hanging out for a week.
To conclude: go on a cruise. It is amazing. And luxurious and fun and insert positive exclamation here. I could go on and on. So just look at the pictures instead.
Waiting to board the boat.
Getting on the boat...I mean ship.
On our balcony.
At the welcome recpetion. Yup...free drinks.
Arriving in Cabo.
Cabo Wabo...where Lucas, Katie and Collin met Sammy Hagar. Evan is still green with envy.
On the beach in Mazatlan, representing the Mariners.
In beautiful Puerto Vallarta...headed for the rain forest.
The rope bridge we bravely walked across in the jungle.
Successfully across and still alive!
Our last day on the ship...it was very windy.
Evan playing putt-putt in 45 mph winds.
This could possibly be after we had a few cocktails.
The last reception on board. It was a white themed party.
The whole gang.
A great trip. We also took pictures of the scenery. Just so you know we are not that vain.
