Beamer's Back

I am back.

Welcome to the re-commitment ceremony of me and my blog. I promise to regularly post details about my life which seem inconsequential, brag and complain about my children and husband, share things that I find amusing and more than likely bore everyone to tears with the monotony of it all. I will not do this out of the guilt that I give myself but because this is an amazing record keeper of my life and my children's milestones. I will remember that I enjoy writing and give myself the time everyday (ha!) to sit and compose a thought or two.

Hello Friends. This is why I have not been posting.

 

Been pretty busy keeping up with these two. Sadie is 4 and Maxton is 9 months. We are attempting to venture into the world of home ownership. Finally. And a lot of other things have happened too.

Last month I decided to get rid of the blog. I have been paying a nominal monthly fee and we got new debit cards and I forgot to change the number with the blog people and I just decided I would let it go. As I looked back at the blog one last time, I got lost in my life. I had forgotten all the little day to day memories that make life so special. I watched Sadie grow. I re-read little Sadie anecdotes. I felt overwhelmingly sad that Max wouldn't have that too.

So I am back.

Let Me See Your Smiley Face

Sadie has taken to saying that lately. Mostly when she thinks she is about to get in trouble and wants to "cute" her way out of it.

It works.

And it is a wake up call for how I need to be viewing life right now.

Things with pregnancy #2 have not been so great. Filled with endless colds and flu's, getting better only to just get worse and, most recently, getting diagnosed with gestational diabetes, it has been a challenge both physically and emotionally. I am frustrated that I am not feeling wonderful, that I don't have the energy to do everything that I want to do. I am wishing this pregnancy over so quickly and this might be the last time I will ever be pregnant. I wish that I had the energy to enjoy every moment and relish in the little delights and the yucks that come with being pregnant.

I have been focusing on the yucks.

But I need to put on my smiley face and look at this differently.

I will only be pregnant for 8 more weeks.

This little guy is very active and healthy and the way it feels to be kicked from the inside is something that I will miss about being pregnant and need to enjoy while I can.  He is also really fond of doing these whole body rolls that feel like they could topple me over. Sadie didn't do that, so it is unique and surprising every time.

Sadie is so excited about being a big sister, that she has a baby in her tummy too! When she thinks the baby is kicking me or I put her hand on my tummy to feel her baby brother, she then puts my hand on her tummy to feel her baby kick too. It is priceless.

Our family is growing. There will be a baby at the end of this. A tiny little sweet thing. That will sleep like an angel and never cry. Right?

Blog Hater

It has been an obscenely long time since I have posted. Honestly I have not been too busy to do so. I have just been too filled with such a loathing hate for my laptop computer that I am not able to bear the frustration of trying to do anything on it, even making a little blog posting. And trying to post a picture? Forget it.  A new laptop is in our immediate future. Immediate as in any day I will book it to the closest computer selling store and buy the first one I see. Considering I know next to nothing about what makes a computer a good computer I will leave that shopping trip to Evan, but it will be soon.

So the highlights of the last (gasp) 9 months:

Our family is growing... I am pregnant!!! We are expecting a baby boy this June. Name is undetermined.

Sadie is a 3 year old wonder. I am amazed by her daily. She is a funny, caring and smart little girl who is enthralled by the world we live in.  Right now she is into Star Wars, Strawberry Shortcake, being a big sister and playing kitchen with her dolls. Her world is varied and complex.

Evan is doing great at work and is excited about being a daddy again. He has recently starting  jamming with his brothers to feed the music genius inside him and that has made him even happier.

I am pregnant.  While this pregnancy has been much easier in some respects (much, much less vomiting) I am much more uncomfortable  a lot sooner with this one. The constant pampering of sleep and relaxation that I was able to give myself while pregnant with Sadie is not at all possible this time around. I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and I am ready to be done. Already. While that makes me feel horrible to say,  I am suffering from the lack of pregnancy glow that is supposed to make gliding through the second trimester of pregnancy so blissful. Although I do have to say that the increased movement that I have been feeling from this little guy is making me feel much better.  That was my favorite part of being pregnant and it is still just as exciting to feel those kicks and shoves this time around.

 I am not going to promise to post more often because my fragile mental condition can not handle the stress of dealing with my computer. But I will try. With pictures.

Fourth of July

Happy 4th everybody!

We had a busy holiday weekend. As usual.

Sadie's Oma came to stay with us on Friday night so that she could watch Sadie all day Saturday while Evan and I were at work. Both Oma and Sadie were thrilled with this arrangement. It also provided an in-house babysitter which Evan and I took advantage of and went to see a movie on Friday night. We saw Eclipse. No judgments please. I loved it.

After work on Saturday we loaded everyone up and headed to the beach for the rest of the weekend. There was lots of liquid sunshine at the beach on Sunday so we spent most of the day outside and wet. Luke and Katie and the boys were there too. Which means that Sadie and Landon get to tear around creating trouble together. They are getting really good at that. Collin is a walker now so it was exciting watching him toddle around. He will be keeping up with the big kids in no time.

Evan and Lucas made a stop at the fireworks stand to get something for "the kids" and came away with a lot of loud things that Sadie called "dangerous." She was right. They also got some pop-its and some sparklers. She had fun throwing the pop-its and then stomping on them. Sparklers have changed since I was a kid. They suck now. Mostly they just spew out stinky sulfur for 30 seconds and then it is done. Not terribly exciting.

We went to the Long Beach Fireworks on the beach and joined the large crowds of firework happy patriots. We probably didn't even need to stay for the official fireworks because there were so many going off the whole time we were there. It was overwhelming.

On the way home after the fireworks, we stopped to get gas. And the car wouldn't start.

Expletive.

So we called a tow truck, called the father-in-law and he came and jumped the car. It worked but not safe for us to drive home, so we traded cars and got home really, really, really late. So late it was early.

And today I am tired. And my cold has come back because I have not had any sleep.

I hope you had a happy fourth.

I am hoping to be happy again on the sixth.

He only had one job...

Ever since we found out that we were going to have a baby girl, Evan has delighted in saying that he only has one job as the father of a little girl. To keep that girl off the stripper pole. He stole this from a Chris Rock bit.

After two and half years of being a daddy, he has failed.

Proof. The video is a little long, It is at The Garlic Festival in Ocean Park, WA a few weeks ago. My father in law's band, Buoy 10, was playing and Sadie, Landon and Collin decided to do some dancing. Then Evan wanted to get creative with the camera and I haven't figured out how to edit yet. So bear with me. The first minute is where all the pole dancing takes place.

I am coming to grips with the fact that my baby is no longer a baby. She looks like a little girl now. She talks like a little girl now.

She is a little girl now.

So, in honor of my little girl being 2 ½ years old, I am going to share with you some of Sadie’s new favorite things.

Tutu’s. Every skirt or dress is a tutu to Sadie. She loves pulling her red tutu over everything she wears, especially her jammies.  Encouraging her to look in the mirror to see how pretty she is in her tutu has backfired a little and she now spends quite a bit of time talking to herself in any available mirror.

Painting.  Sadie has discovered watercolor paints and enjoys painting on anything. Like birthday cards, bills, the table, her leg.  

Swimming.  Now that summer has finally arrived, Evan has taken her over to the community college to swim in the pool and she LOVES it. Sadie and Evan are going to be taking swimming lessons in August.

Helping. Sadie loves to help out around the house. You know…doing the dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, setting the table, cooking, folding laundry. It takes twice as long now to do everything, but it sure is nice to have that extra set of hands. Sense the sarcasm.

I will post pictures soon. She hasn’t been holding still long enough to get any lately. And that is as good excuse as any to blame my laziness on.

 

Health Update, Part 2

I have had it.

Done. 

I am done.

I am sick.

Again.

(Picture me grabbing my hair and screaming at the sky now. As if I can scream, I can barely talk.)

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I have caught a lovely cold or something that has caused my neck to feel like a steel column. My throat hurts. My glands are swollen. I have a cough. My eyes want to pop out of my face.

I need a clean room.

Or a medical degree.

Which do you think is cheaper?

Health Update

I have been sickly as of late.

Feels like I am always sickly lately.

And I am not pregnant.

At the beginning of the month I was suffering from some chest pain. My brilliant, should have been a doctor if he liked math and science husband suggested that the symptoms I was having were similar to last year when I had pericarditis. Which is an infection of the lining of the heart that I got after having a nasty chest cold. Having recently recovered from a nasty chest cold, it seemed plausible and as the pain got worse I headed to the ER.

That will be a recurring theme in this story.

They diagnosed me with pleurisy in my left lung. Painful but not serious. Whew. But I was also having some stomach problems and not able to keep anything in. Anywhere. That is as graphic as I will get. The ER staff seemed more concerned with the pleurisy and sent me home, confident I would feel better.

My intestinal difficulties got increasingly worse, adding some nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting to my already fun symptoms. After being extremely uncomfortable for a day and a half I called my doctor who sent me some medicine that would help. It made things worse. Thanks Doc!

The next day I visited the good doctor and he ordered a bunch of fun tests and put me on an antibiotic convinced that I had some weird intestinal bacteria. The symptoms got even worse then. He ordered a different prescription and that one seemed to be helping...at first.

The next evening, after Evan was finally able to go back to work because I couldn't stand upright to take care of Sadie, my symptoms got rapidly worse and...you guessed it, back to the ER.

There I finally got some pain medications (morphine IV...yay!) and some more tests and medications and FINALLY a diagnosis.

I had a bacterial infection in my intestines that caused my colon to become infected and essentially shut down. I didn't even know that could happen. In reaction to that I developed a bladder and urinary tract infection too. Big Fun. I was sent home with pain meds, nausea and vomiting meds and more antibiotics.

Thankfully, I started feeling better. Unfortunately my follow up test results showed that I wasn't.

I had a CT scan this last Thursday and the results came back normal, which is great. But now I need to go see a specialist.

And I have a cold now.

But I am feeling better.

And this was WAY too much information for you probably, so thanks for sticking with me, but hopefully this clears up any questions for those of you who have been bugging me.
